Composée de trente-trois échantillons d'eaux collectées le long de la plus grande circulation océanique, cette installation projette nos imaginaires au cœur du temps des océans. Les échantillons d’eau sont ainsi issus d’une boucle de courants qui relie tous les océans de la planète en 1500 ans, prélevés à différentes profondeurs, de la surface jusqu’à 8000 m de profondeur.
Cette collection a été rendue possible grâce aux prélèvements jusqu’à 8000 m de profondeur des océanographes des des laboratoires de Southampton (UK), LOCEAN (Jussieu, FR), Alfred Wegener Institute (DE) et Woods Hole (USA) avec une contribution spéciale de 12 ampoules offertes par l’océanographe Harry Bryden.
As a projection beyond human perception of time, this installation takes the visitor through the time cycles of the oceans by means of thirty three samples of oceanic waters, collected along the thermohaline circulation. This loop of currents connects all oceans of the planet in around 1500 years, southwards through the abysses, northwards at the surface. The waters of the installation were also collected at different depths, from the surface to 8000m deep.
This collection was made possible thanks to oceanographers from Southampton (UK), LOCEAN (Jussieu, FR), Alfred Wegener Institute (DE) and Woods Hole (USA) oceanographic laboratories with a special contribution of 12 phials by oceanographers Harry Bryden.
